Mary Shelley (1797-1851) is best known as the author of Frankenstein and the wife of Romantic poet Percy Bysse Shelley. In this illustrated biography Martin Garrett explores Mary Shelley's life and work, from her eventful early yeards to her comparatively tranquil later life. When P.B.Shelley drowned in 1822, Mary was just 24. After his death she returned to England with her surviving son and continued to write, as well as working on major editions of her husband's poetry. This fascinating biography is illustrated with portraits, contemporary paintings, and original documents and letters.
