Dr John Holmes is Senior Lecturer in English Literature at the
University of Reading. He was educated at Lincoln College, Oxford,
and Queen Mary and Westfield College, London, and holds a D. Phil.
from Oxford on Victorian poetry. He is the author of Dante
Gabriel Rossetti and the Late Victorian Sonnet Sequence: Sexuality,
Belief and the Self (Aldershot: Ashgate, 2005), Darwin's
Bards: British and American Poetry in the Age of Evolution
(Edinburgh: Edinburgh University Press, 2009) and a range of
articles on Victorian and Renaissance literature.
