Helen Hackett

Helen Hackett is Professor of English at University College London. Her publications include A Short History of English Renaissance Drama (2013), Shakespeare and Elizabeth: The Meeting of Two Myths (2009), Women and Romance Fiction in the English Renaissance (2000), and Virgin Mother, Maiden Queen: Elizabeth I and the Cult of the Virgin Mary (1995). She wrote the introduction to the Penguin edition of A Midsummer Night's Dream (2005), and the Writers and Their Work volume on this play (1997). In 2015 she edited Early Modern Exchanges: Dialogues Between Nations and Cultures, 1550-1750, a collection of essays from events of the UCL Centre for Early Modern Exchanges, which she co-founded.
