Peter Lewis Groves

Peter Groves was educated in the UK at the universities of Exeter and Cambridge, and now teaches poetry, stylistics, Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature at Monash University, Melbourne. His main research interests are in metre and metrical theory, stylistics, and translation studies. He is the author of Strange Music: The Metre of the English Heroic Line (ELS 1998), and co-author of Samuel Daniel: Selected Poetry and A Defence of Rhyme (Pegasus Press, 1998) and English Character-Books of the Renaissance: An Anthology (Pegasus Press, in press), and his work on metre and versification has been published in journals such as Shakespeare, Style, Parergon and Versification; he has also contributed several articles to the Oxford Encyclopedia of Semiotics.
