Jean-Pierre van Noppen

Jean-Pierre van Noppen (1946-) is a retired senior professor in English linguistics at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, where he has been active as a grammarian, lexicographer, bibliographer and as editor with the Revue belge de Philologie et d’Histoire and the Belgian Journal of English Language and Literature. He teaches English grammar, semantics and pragmatics. His current teaching and research interests are in non-literary (pragma)stylistics, theolinguistics and critical discourse analysis. His publications include over a hundred articles and the collective volumes Theolinguistics, Metaphor and Religion, How to Do Things with Metaphor, Grammaire de Référence de l’Anglais, two bibliographies on Metaphor, New Horizons in Stylistics?, Text and Ideology, and, most recently, Transforming Words, a book in critical theolinguistics on early Wesleyan discourse.
