Derek Frederick Connon

Derek Connon is Emeritus Professor of French at Swansea University. He has published monographs on Diderot and Piron and critical editions of plays by Piron, Saurin and Musset, as well as, in collaboration with his colleague George Evans, an anthology of opéras-comiques from the repertoire of the early eighteenth-century Parisian fair theatres. He has written articles on French literature, mainly theatre, from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries, and is currently working on an edition of Piron’s Fernand-Cortés. His interest in music is reflected in his collaboration with harpsichordist and musicologist Jane Clark on a study of the significance of the titles of Couperin's harpsichord works.
