Dr. Stephen E. Tabachnick is a Professor in the English Department
at the University of Memphis. His fields of expertise are late
Victorian and modern English literature, particularly Anglo-Arabian
travel writing; the literature of the 1930s; and the graphic (or
comic book) novel. He is the author or editor of eight books,
including most recently "Fiercer than Tigers: The Life and Works of
Rex Warner" (Michigan State University Press, 2002) and "Lawrence
of Arabia: An Encyclopedia" (Greenwood Press, 2004). A ninth
volume, an edited collection entitled "Teaching the Graphic Novel,"
is tentatively forthcoming from the Modern Language Association of
America in 2009.
