Uberto Motta is Full Professor (Professeur Ordinaire) of Italian
Literature at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. After his
Ph.D (1996, Catholic University of Milan, Italy), he was visiting
scholar at the University of Leuven (Belgium) and Lausanne
(Switzerland); then he was post-doctoral fellow at Harvard
University (2000-2001). From 2003 to 2011 he taught Italian
Literature and History of Literary Criticism at the Catholic
University of Milan. In 2010-2011 he has been Visiting Professor at
the San Tichon University, Moscow. Italian Renaissance literature
and culture is his main field of research. He is author of «Antonio
Querenghi (1546-1633). Un letterato padovano nella Roma del tardo
Rinascimento» (Milan: Vita e Pensiero, 1997), and «Castiglione e il
mito di Urbino. Studi sulla elaborazione del "Cortegiano"» (Milan:
Vita e Pensiero, 2003), and editor of Baldassarre Castiglione,
«Vita di Guidubaldo duca di Urbino» (Rome, Salerno, 2006). He has
also investigated the various forms of critics and poetics in
Italian modern literature; in this domain he is author of
«Ritrovamenti di senso nella poesia di Zanzotto» (Milan: Vita e
Pensiero, 1996), and editor of «Mario Luzi oggi. Letture critiche a
confronto» (Novara, Interlinea, 2008). He ha salso written some
text-books and edited anthologies of Italian author from medieval
to modern period: «Domino. Letteratura per moduli» (Milan:
Archimede Edizioni, 1998); «Un anno di letteratura» (Milan, Bruno
Mondadori, 2000), co-authored with Gianluca Barbieri; «I volti e le
parole. Figure e forme della letteratura italiana del Rinascimento»
(Milan, CUSL, 2011); «Letteratura.it», 4 vols (Milano, Bruno
Mondadori, 2012), co-authored with P. Frare, P. Gresti, G.
Langella. He published articles and reviews in «Lettere italiane»,
