Annemarie Ambühl

Annemarie Ambühl has taught at various universities in Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany, where she currently has a position as a lecturer in Latin language and literature at the University of Mainz.

She completed her PhD on children and young heroes in Callimachus at the University of Basel in 2002 and her habilitation on Lucan’s reception of Greek tragedy and Hellenistic poetry at the University of Mainz in 2012.

Besides her PhD thesis (Kinder und junge Helden: Innovative Aspekte des Umgangs mit der literarischen Tradition bei Kallimachos, Leuven: Peeters 2005) and her habilitation (Krieg und Bürgerkrieg bei Lucan und in der griechischen Literatur: Studien zur Rezeption der attischen Tragödie und der hellenistischen Dichtung im Bellum civile, Berlin: De Gruyter 2015), she has published various articles on Hellenistic and Latin poetry in international handbooks (among them Brill’s Companion to Hellenistic Epigram, eds. P. Bing/J.S. Bruss, Leiden: Brill 2007; A Companion to Hellenistic Literature, eds. J.J. Clauss/M. Cuypers, Malden, Mass.: Blackwell 2010) and congress volumes.
