Lucy Arnold

Lucy Arnold is a doctoral student in the School of English at the University of Leeds. Her thesis, 'Where the Ghosts of Meaning Are: Narrative, History and Spectrality in the Work of Hilary Mantel', explores the prominence of the figure of the ghost and the situation of haunting in Hilary Mantel's work from her debut novel, Every Day is Mother's Day, through to her most recent works.

In addition to her work on narratives of haunting and speculative fiction more generally, Lucy's other research interests centre around interactions between psychoanalytic thought and literary criticism, with a primary focus on the work of Jean Laplanche. Working alongside Professor Bridget Bennett and Dr Hamilton Carroll, Lucy is the administrative assistant for the AHRC-funded research network 'Home, Crisis and the Imagination.'
