Elgin Eckert

Elgin K. Eckert is the Academic Director and Associate Professor of Italian Cultural Studies at the Umbra Institute in Perugia, Italy, where she teaches courses in literature, creative writing, history and media studies. Her research interests and publications focus on cultural memory in contemporary Italian literature and the representation of the Mafia in historical and contemporary literary and cinematic narrative. She received her Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literature at Harvard University with a dissertation on the Sicilian author Andrea Camilleri.
