John Cowell's law dictionary of 1607, The Interpreter, exalts the Crown's prerogative so highly that he faces censure from Parliament and the Privy Council. He is prosecuted by Sir Edmund Coke, only being saved from imprisonment by the intervention of the King, and on 26th March his book is burnt. . .
