Monmouth is defeated at Sedgemoor
James Scott, Duke of Monmouth, is defeated at Sedgemoor by the troops of James II. He was the leader of a rebellion which aimed to overthrow King James and replace him with Monmouth, an illegitimate son of Charles II.
