Germany secures Baghdad Railway contract
The Ottoman Turks first gave Germany permission to begin a railway from Berlin to Ankara eleven years previously, in the first stage of a line that Germany envisages stretching as far as Baghdad. Now Germany secures a contract to build the projected Baghdad Railway.
