Charles Doolittle Walcott discovers the Burgess Shale Cambrian fossil site

Charles Doolittle Walcott (31st March, 1850 - 9th February, 1927) was an American paleontologist. In 1909 he discovered the well-preserved Burgess Shale fossil site in British Columbia, Canada. Walcott collected more than 65,000 specimens from the site between 1910 and 1924.
