Lancelot appears in a French prose epic written by between 1150 and 1190, and arrives in England in the 14th century English poem Le Morte d’Arthur. The story is then adapted by Malory in his Morte D’arthur (1470-85), and again by Percy in his Reliques of Ancient English Poetry</> (1765) and Tennyson in his Idylls of the King (1859).
