On the 1st of June, 1813 the USS Chesapeake, a 38-gun sailing frigate of the United States Navy, was captured by the Royal Navy frigate HMS Shannon. The Royal Navy took her into their service as HMS Chesapeake until 1820 when her timbers were broken up and sold.
