Louis XII, Duke of Orleans, succeeds as King of France (until his death in 1515) on the death of his cousin Charles VIII. This inheritance united the Duchy of Orleans and the Comte of Blois with the French crown. He enacted various legal and governmental reforms, but lost France its share of Naples.
