Thomas Cranmer is consecrated Archbishop of Canterbury. He succeeds William Warham, who died in August l532. In contrast to Warham, Cranmer is sympathetic to the reforming views emanating from Germany and Switzerland, and is to be instrumental in introducing the Reformation to England.
