After King George II refuses to allow William Pitt to join the Cabinet as Secretary at War, the Pelham Ministry resigns. However, Bath and Granville are unable to form an administration, so four days later, Pelham and his colleagues return and, on 22nd October, Pitt is made Joint Vice-Treasurer for Ireland.
