At the Battle of White Mountain, near Prague, the Catholic League under the command of Count Tilly defeats the army of Frederick of Bohemia, led by Christian of Anhalt. The victorious Catholic forces quash the Bohemian revolt against Emperor Ferdinand II, executing the leading rebels and expelling Protestant clergy.
