The Malta Summit, a meeting between US President George Bush (born 12th June, 1924) and Mikhail Gorbachev (born 2nd March, 1931), leader of the Soviet Union, took place between the 2nd and 3rd of December 1989. It followed the fall of the Berlin Wall on the 9th of November, 1989 and the summit is considered to mark the official end of the Cold War.
