Historical Context Note

The Peace of Ardres ends England's war with France and Scotland: Boulogne is to remain in English hands for 8 years and then be restored to France for 2 million crowns (England restores it in Mar. 1550); Francis I undertakes to pay Henry VIII the customary pensions.
