On the 12th of May, 1775 Crown Point, a British fort near the south end of Lake Champlain, New York State, was captured by a militia organization of American revolutionaries known as the Green Mountain Boys. On the 19th of May they also captured Fort Ticonderoga, another British fort near the south end of Lake Champlain.
