The English Parliament learns of a treaty signed by the Earl of
Glamorgan with the Irish the previouis year, which in return for 10
000 Irish Catholic troops, promised that Charles I would convert to
the Church of Rome. Unsurprisingly, this predominantly dissenting
Protestant body are furious at the prospect.
