Short Note This is a short note

The Dutch fleet, under the command of Admiral de Ruyter, launches an attack on England. They burn Sheerness, sail up the River Medway, raid Chatham dockyard and escapes with the royal barge, the 'Royal Charles'. This episode marks the nadir of English naval power.
