Short Note This is a short note

France and Italy, both seeking to increase their hold over Tunisia, begin to conflict with each other in their attempts to enhance their influence. The French, recently humiliated in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71, see Tunisia, neighbour to their Algerian colony, as a natural succesor for colonisation.
