Short Note This is a short note

 Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of Britain, dies. He is succeeded by his son, Richard, but he lacks the charisma and military credentials of his father, and by the following May his rule has collapsed, creating a power vacuum while ushers in the Restoration of Charles II.
