Literary/ Cultural Context Note

The Greek word for knowledge which under the influence of Michel Foucault is now used to designate the set of conceptual procedures which govern the production of knowledge at a particular moment in history. The word can therefore be glossed as meaning 'a way of making sense of the world'.
