Historical Context Note

The first G-7 ('Group of Seven') summit was held in France in 1976. It is a coalition of seven major industrialized nations; the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the US and Canada, and involves the countries finance ministers meeting to discuss economic policy.
