The bombing of the of the US Embassy in Beirut on the 20th of
September, 1984 resulted in the death of 22 people. The embassy had
been moved to a supposedly secure location in East Beirut following
a previous suicide bombing on the 18th of April, 1983 in which 63
people had died.
