Historical Context Note

Bonaparte defeats Russian army Friedland (now Pravdinsk, Russia), southeast of Königsberg in East Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia). The French victory forced Alexander I of Russia to conclude peace at the Treaty of Tilsit.
