On 5 June Senator Robert Kennedy (D-NY) was shot in the Hotel Ambassador, Los Angeles, after celebrating his presidential primary victories. Sirhan Bishara Sirhan was convicted of the murder. His death sentence was commuted to life in prison in 1972.
