This play was translated and adapted by Mrs Inchbald as “Lover’s Vows” in 1798 and performed at the Theatre Royal Covent Garden in that year. The play was greatly in vogue and ran to twelve editions by the end of 1799. See also our People Table entry for August von Kotzebue.
