Contributions
The Literary Magazine is primarily concerned to connect scholarly work
on literary and historical culture, and the critical understanding of rhetoric, narrative,
narration and literary tropes, with the concerns of the intellectual public. We
are therefore interested in receiving contributions which make bridges
between scholarly understanding and contemporary cultural, social and political
phenomena. Essays submitted should generally be in the range of 2500-5000 words, be written so as to be comprehensible by intelligent non-specialists and be such as to interest a wide readership. They may therefore consider new novels, poems, or particular works of the past, or consider particular themes and topics, provided that breadth of interest and address is part of their aim.
Since we expect to be read by fellow members of the profession at large, we are also interested in publishing informational pieces about matters of rather narrower professional interest. If you would like us to consider a submission, in the first instance please use the Literary Encyclopedia contact us form, outlining your proposal in a few hundred words, and ideally providing a personal university web page if you have one.
