SA'EDI, Gholam-Hosain (b.Tabriz, 5 January 1936: d. Paris 23 November 1985) was a psychiatrist, playwright (under the name of Gowhar Morad), fiction writer, ethnographer, editor, political activist, who exercised a considerable influence in popularizing the theatre in Iran as a medium of social and political expression. On account of his writings, he was imprisoned and tortured several times during the reign of the Shah, and after the Islamic Revolution he fled Iran to Paris where he published plays and essays critical of the regime, and where he died.
