Catherine Rainwater

Catherine Rainwater is Professor of English at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Author of numerous articles, books, and chapters in books on literary topics, she is the recipient of national awards for her writing, including the Norman Foerster Award (1990) from the Modern Language Association, and the Penelope Niven Creative Nonfiction Literary Award (2004). Her most recent books include Figuring Animals: Essays on Animal Images in Art, Literature, Philosophy, and Popular Culture (Palgrave/Macmillan, 2005), and Dreams of Fiery Stars: The Transformations of Native American Fiction (University of Pennsylvania Press, 1999). Her recent creative nonfiction works appear in New Texas, The Fourth River, and Windhover.
