Lucie Sutherland

My work is focused upon the relationship between professional infrastructure and creativity within the theatre industry from the late nineteenth century to the present day, with particular focus upon the transition from actor manager to theatre producer in the early part of the twentieth century.

I have published reviews and articles focusing on these areas for journals including New Theatre Quarterly and Nineteenth Century Theatre and Film, and I am currently completing a critical biography of actor manager George Alexander.
