Christopher MacLachlan

Senior Lecturer, School of English, University of St Andrews, 1975-2013 (retired). Author of articles on British literature, mainly from the eighteenth century and Scotland, including essays on Burns, Hume, Stevenson, Buchan and Spark, and a monograph on Tolkien and Wagner. Editor of works by Matthew Lewis and Robert Louis Stevenson and selections of verse by Robert Burns and his contemporaries, and collections of essays on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Scottish literature, George MacDonald and Edwin Muir. Fellow of the Association for Scottish Literary Studies.
