Lance Svehla

Lance Svehla is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Akron where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in writing, rhetorical theory, and culture studies. He is co-author of the book Sound-Bite Saboteurs: Public Discourse, Education, and the State of Democratic Deliberation (2010). In 2011 he won the University of Akron's Award for Outstanding Teaching. In December 2011 he was featured in Ohio Magazine’s "Excellence in Education" issue. His research interests include rhetorical theory, writing theory, and American Pragmatism. He has worked extensively with high school educators and has received over $300,000 in external grants to fund that work.
