Maria Odete da Costa Semedo was born on September 7th, 1959, in Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau. She graduated in Portuguese Studies - Languages and Modern Literatures at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She also earned a PhD degree in Letters / Literatures of Portuguese Language, in 2010, at Pontifícia Universidade Católica in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. She is currently a teacher of Portuguese and was director of Escola Normal Superior Tchico Té in Bissau. She is also a collaborating professor at Colinas de Boé University, in the capital of the country. She worked as a Minister of National Education and President of the Commission of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) - Bissau and also as a Minister of Public Health and…
