The Stockholm Bloodbath shatters the amnesty to his opponents that Christian II of Denmark had promised at his Swedish coronation. He massacres Eric Vasa and leading Swedish bishops and nobles. This provokes a national revolt under Gustavus Vasa, which goes on until 1523.
