Emperor Charles V enters the Flemish city of Ghent, which has risen up in revolt against paying a subsidy to fund his Italian wars. Although his sister Mary of Hungary has been unable to contain the rebellion, Charles now meets little resistance. He executes the leaders of the revolt and formally abolishes the city's privileges.
