French peasants rise in revolt simultaneously in the southern regions of Dauphiné, Armagnac and Languedoc, and in the north in Normandy. In Poitou and Saintonge, a group of nobles collaborate to oppose chief minister Jules Mazarin, forcing him to reduce taxation.
