Robert Peel issues the Tamworth Manifesto, giving the Tory Party
a new raft of policies representing an approach of liberal
Conservatism. On behalf of his party he accepts the Reform Act of
1832, which Tory MPs had voted against at the time, and agrees to
embrace a programme of more equitable reforms.
