On the 30th of July, 1971 Apollo 15 landed on the moon. It was the 4th mission of the Apollo program to land on the moon, manned by David R. Scott, Alfred M. Worden and James B. Irwin. As the first of the 3 'J' missions, its aim was to explore the surface of the moon over a longer period and focused on scientific investigation to a greater degree than previous landings.
