In 1977, business partners Steven Jobs and Stephen Wozniak founded their company, Apple Computer Incorporated, and used the Jobs family car garage as the world headquarters. Soon their Apple II (which offered a colour display), released in 1978, was the choice of many computer programmers and drew competition from rival computer company International Business Machines. Despite robust competition, Apple Computers achieved commercial success and grew throughout the 1980s.
