In April 1847 Brigham Young (1st June, 1801 - 29th August, 1877), the president of the Latter Day Saint Movement, lead the Mormon pioneers west to settle in Salt Lake Valley. They arrived in what became known as the 'Utah Territory' in July 1847, where Young became its first governor.
