Ejnar Hertzsprung (8th October, 1873 - 21st October, 1967), a Danish chemist and astronomer, and Henry Norris Russell (25th October, 1877 - 18th February, 1957), an American astronomer, developed the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram in 1910. Hertzsprung-Russell diagrams show the relationships and differences between stars by plotting them on graphs which measure their luminosity against their temperature and colour.
