During this period, although raids were frequently undertaken by Scotland's nobility into the English enclaves within Scottish territory, Robert II was unwilling to embark on all-out war with the English. When France and England signed a truce in the Hundred Years' War in 1384, Scotland partook of its terms, accepting a temporary state of peace.
